Pad-0A Universal Ground Control System Upgrade

Pad-0A Universal Ground Control System Upgrade Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport Virginia Commercial Spaceflight Authority

Command and Control Technologies is currently under contract with the Virginia Commercial Spaceflight Authority to upgrade the Universal Ground Control System (UGFCS) at Pad-0A to support the new Northrop Grumman Antares 330 (A330) and Medium Lift Launch Vehicles (MLV).

The new launch vehicles, a partnership between Northrop and Firefly Aerospace, provide increased lift capability using completely US made technologies.  These new vehicles will utilize first stages based on Firefly’s composite technologies and Miranda Engines with a Northrop Castor second stage.  Antares 330 will continue the ISS resupply mission while MLV will provide access to Low Earth Orbit and Geosynchronous transfer orbit using multiple 2 and 3 stage configurations.

The UGFCS, based on the Command and Control Toolkit Product Line, is being modified and upgraded to support configuration changes to first stage and second stages including updated processes for Lox and RP-1 fueling, environmental Control System, and high pressure gas handling.  Modifications include new and updated software process controls and new pad-side control boxes to support the new vehicle configurations.  UGFCS upgrades are on schedule to support first launch in 2026.
