RangeNet
RangeNet software is designed to simplify creation of distributed range control systems and enhance situational awareness of command, safety, and range personnel. It is a modular framework that is easily adapted and extended to a variety of mission types anywhere in the world. It integrates planning, configuration, simulation, training, mission execution & post mission analysis under an integrated architecture. RangeNet is a “plug-in” software module of the Command and Control Toolkit™ (CCTK), the real-time command and control middleware from CCT.
Mission Planning. RangeNet accepts mission planning templates such as trajectory analysis, Instantaneous Impact-point Prediction, and instrumentation coverage analysis. The templates provide a basis for map overlays and mission decision aids. Mission displays are codelessly constructed from a database of configurable maps, planning templates, and dynamic graphical widgets that are used for situation awareness during the mission.
Range (Re)Configuration. Planning templates, maps, TSPI sources, telemetry definitions, simulations, and mission specific algorithms are all managed in the range configuration database that allows range operators to maintain configuration control of mission products. Built on XML technology, the configuration database supports exchange of configuration information, and flexible extension of RangeNet to a wide variety of operational scenarios. Organizations with multi-mission operations concepts can reconfigure from one mission to the next in a matter of seconds simply by choosing from a library of stored and validated configuration options.
Mission Simulation. A fully integrated simulation environment supports modeling the continuous or discrete time behavior of any target or system. Simulations can be quickly and easily composed in to mission scenarios for: verification of ground systems, mission dress rehearsals, operator training and qualification, validation of processing algorithms, range operational readiness verification.
Mission Execution. RangeNet performs real-time calculation and display of TSPI solutions for multiple targets. Modular data processing provides a library of configurable transforms for linearization, coordinate conversion, filtering, and constraint evaluation of data. Modular design also allows displays to be decoupled from TSPI calculations enabling multi-user operations. The network centric architecture supports client-server, broadcast, or peer-to-peer data distribution & remote control. The application environment provides support for reactive control and commanding.
Post-Mission Operations. Mission data and events are digitally recorded and indexed to optimize throughput and near-real-time access. Remote users can logon and access mission data for immediate analysis or export to other tools for data reduction, even during real-time operations. Mission data can also be played back or integrated with simulations for further analysis and operator training.
Surveillance Operations. RangeNet also supports integration of asynchronous targets acquired via ground, air, or marine surveillance instrumentation for complete situation awareness in the area of operation. Plug-ins are also available for day and night cameras control as well as gimble mount auto-tracking.
