Tarsus

PCI Telemetry I/O Board

The Tarsus board family of products are based on the latest advances in Altera FPGA technology with the latest data acquisition integrated circuits which creates a very versatile telemetry processor card. The board has the ability to perform many different unique data acquisition and telemetry processing functions including dual full digitally implemented bit synchronizers, PCM decommutators, multi-channel clock data recovery (CDR) modules, SGLS modulator/demodulator and many other data acquisition applications. The basis for the card is two 14-bit analog to digital paths into over 3 million gates of user configurable space. The card has two 12 bit high speed digital to analog outputs that can also be user configurable. The FPGA configurations are downloadable via an Ulyssix proprietary software.

The Tarsus board is currently available in two configurations: The Tarsus PCM-PCI-01, and PCM-PCI-02.

TarsusPCM-PCI-01 - 20 Mbps Digital Bit Synchronizer/Frame Synchronizer, PCM Decommutator with Simulator and IRIG Time Code Reader

The TarsusPCM-PCI-01 Processor Board is a multi-mode PCM Processor board that contains a DSP implemented digital bit synchronizer, frame synchronizer, IRIG Class II PCM decommutator, PCM simulator, IRIG Time Code Generator/Reader and optional Virterbi Decoder. The TarsusPCM is the most flexible and technically advanced PCM Processor board available.

The bit synchronizer accepts all of the IRIG106-01 code types and has Eb/N0 rejection of better than 1 dB to the theoretical BER published curve. The input AGC accepts inputs from 75 mVpp to 10 Vpp.

The CCTK Linux based software allows the user to setup each channel with easy to use GUI interface and gives indicators for loop lock, frame lock, subframe lock, and AGC strength. Raw frame and processed telemetry data are recorded and available for historical analysis or real-time visualization. The CCTK decommutator software provides the user the ability to setup parameters from 4 to 64 bits with easy to enter data processing (EU conversion) algorithms. Asynchronous embedded formats, tagged parameters, frame format identifier format changeovers are supported. The CCTK simulator software provides a full modeling environment for seamless integration with the Tarsus simulation device.

TarsusPCM-PCI-02 - Dual 20 Mbps Digital Bit Synchronizer/Frame Synchronizer with PCM Encoder Capability

The TarsusPCM-PCI-02 Processor Board is a multi-mode board that contains two fully independent DSP implemented digital bit synchronizers from 1 bps to 20 Mbps with corresponding Frame Synchronizers and dual PCM output encoder capability per input. The bit syncs accept all of the IRIG106-01 code types and has Eb/N0 rejection of better than 1 dB to the theoretical BER published curve. The input AGC accepts inputs from 75 mVpp to 10 Vpp.

The CCTK software allows the user to setup each channel with easy to use interface and provides indicators for loop lock, frame lock, subframe lock, and AGC strength. All CCTK decommutation, data processing, archive and retrieval, as well as CCTK's many visualization options are fully compatible with the -02 configuration.
